Supawood MDF

Supawood MDF

Affordable & Versatile

Supawood or MDF (medium density fibre board) is a pocket-friendly alternative to solid wood for an incredibly wide range of applications. As a medium-density fiberboard (MDF), it is commonly used for furniture and décor and is a great alternative to wood or veneered boards. It has a smooth, fine surface ideal for spray paint and PVC wrap finishes. It can also be stained, varnished or finished with melamine-impregnated décor, but it is not recommended for exterior use.

Supawood/MDF is manufactured from either eucalyptus or pine wood residuals, making it a sustainable, environmentally friendly choice. Eucalyptus Supawood/MDF is darker in colour with greater water resistant qualities than pine. Pine Supawood, also known as bernique MDF, has a yellow tone and properties that make it ideal for laser cutting.

At Everwood TimBuild we stock both Eucalyptus and pine Supawood in thicknesses from 3mm to 32mm. We also stock single- and doubled-faced Supawood, with either one or both sides of the wood finished with melamine.

Good To Use For

It is great for making shaker style kitchen cupboard doors and panels and can be hand painted with a lovely paint technique. The 3mm and 6mm MDF are often used as a substrate for laser cutting for crafts and diy project even model building.
